Wideband array antenna system development

M-AESA is a joint Swedish-Italian development program for Multifunction AESA systems. This paper gives an overview of experiences and results for wideband array antenna systems within this program. The results include two high performance antenna functional models, a thorough theoretical and experimental basis for wideband array performance, studies of electromagnetic compatibility of closely located sensors and extensive evaluations of mechanical array designs, calibration approaches and subarray division.
