ANALYSIS OF THE DEPENDENCE OF FUEL CONSUMPTION ON SPEED LIMITS IN THE RURAL ROAD NETWORK THROUGH TRAFFIC SIMULATION

The Institute has been commissioned to make an estimation of the total fuel saving resulting from reduced speed limits in the rural road network. The traffic simulation model developed by the Institute has been used to calculate fuel consumption in a number of standard cases. A generalization has then been made for the whole network of main roads. (Author/TRRL)
