Control of the Z-Source Inverter for Fuel Cell-Battery Hybrid Vehicles to Eliminate Undesirable Operation Modes

The Z-source inverter provides a simple single stage solution for fuel cell-battery hybrid vehicles. However, under certain load conditions, the Z-source inverter might have some unwanted operation modes, which will sacrifice the inverter performance, e.g. increase the harmonic. For the Z-source inverter used in fuel cell-battery hybrid vehicles, this can be solved by sophisticated control of the inverter. The analysis of the inverter for fuel cell-battery hybrid vehicles and description of the control methods to avoid the undesirable operation modes are presented in this paper with validation of experimental results
