Optimal shape for AC foil conductors

Two methods are presented to determine the optimal conductor shape with respect to losses for a two-foil transmission line with a given inductance. One technique is then applied to the optimisation of winding configurations near the air gap in an inductor. Simulation results show a definite reduction in AC resistance of the inductor windings, and a method is proposed for the practical implementation of this technique in inductor design.<<ETX>>
