µ-Analysis and H∞-Controller Synthesis for the Steam Generator Water Level

Abstract Controller synthesis for the steam generator water level in the pressurized water reactor of a nuclear power plant is considered. Controllers for the steam generator are designed using H-synthesis. The change in the operating power is modelled as slowly time-varying uncertainty. A parameter-dependent model is constructed from first principles’ models via linear fractional transformations. μ -analysis is used to guarantee performance of the closed-loop system with respect to all expected parameter variations.
