Panel - engineering education R&D: building capacity and building community

This panel discusses several on-going projects of the Center for the Advancement of Scholarship on Engineering Education (CASEE) of the National Academy of Engineering (NAE). These projects serve to build capacity within and tools for engineering education research and development (R&D) communities as well as to develop tools in support of frontline classroom instructors. Projects discussed includes a Web portal linking education research journals, a leadership development workshop for engineering deans and their management staffs, efforts to strengthen engagement of faculty at minority serving institutions and future faculty drawn from underrepresented minority populations, a database summarizing the research base underlying asserted "best practices" in engineering education, and an exploration of credentialing of educational innovation by engineering faculty
