The invention provides electronic equipment and a tracking method of the electronic equipment for the purpose of solving the problem that peripheral equipment cannot be adopted for tracking and positioning lost conventional electronic equipment because a power supply is closed by force or runs out due to too long time in lost. A low-power-consumption wireless module is not limited by direct control of the on-off state of the power supply of a system power module. The low-power-consumption wireless module, a communication module and a timing module are connected in a signal and control mode. The low-power-consumption wireless module is in wireless communication with the peripheral equipment. The timing module is used for controlling the communication module of the electronic equipment to be in communication connection with peripheral authorized equipment according to the pre-set cycle. When the pre-set cycle of the timing module runs out, the communication module of the electronic equipment cannot be in communication connection with the authorized equipment so that the timing module is used for controlling the low-power-consumption wireless module to start sending heartbeat information outwards periodically. Peripheral search equipment is used for searching and receiving heartbeat information, by means of which the electronic equipment is tracked and positioned.
