The spin state of Fe+3 in (morpholyldithiocarbamate)3Fe⋅CH2Cl2 determined by Mössbauer spectroscopy

The spin nature of the title solvated complex has been studied by Mossbauer spectroscopy at low temperature. It is concluded that below 4.2 K the ferric ion is in the ’’high’’ spin state with S = 5/2, contrary to the previously made S = 3/2 assignment on the basis of magnetic susceptibility measurements.
