STRESS ANALYSIS OF A BULK CARRIER LOWER STOOL CONSIDERING MISALIGNMENT

The misalignment of structural members causes additional bending moment. The effect of misalignment on behaviour and strength has been clarified for simple structures such as a cruciform joint with a fillet weld. However, for the complicated structures of ships, very few studies have been conducted. This paper describes stress analyses performed on the joint between the bulkhead lower stool and inner bottom of a bulk carrier and the effect of misalignment on behaviour is investigated.
