Distance education technologies: best practices for K-12 settings

Rapid developments in technology are leading many teachers and students to experiment with distance education. What instructional models are available for planning distance education experiences, and how are these models holding up in the face of rapid changes in technology? A classroom project is presented which employs compressed videoconferencing technology. Discussion of this project leads to suggestions for a series of best practices for distance education drawn from current research.
