Condition monitoring in reaming through acoustic emission signals

Abstract This study investigates the nature of the acoustic emission (AE) generated during the reaming of EN4 steel workpieces. For this purpose, experiments were conducted in a horizontal boring and milling machine to determine the effects of cutting parameters. The results show good correlation between the AE parameters and the severity of the contact conditions during chip formation.
