The Use of Computers in Radiation Therapy

The goal of this project has been the development of an inverse treatment planning system for Gamma Knife radiosurgery. The techniques that have been investigated include nonlinear and mixed integer programming. These techniques have been applied to a variety of patient cases. The results indicate that an inverse planning approach has the potential to provide significant improvements in the quality of Gamma Knife treatment plans.
