Application Areas – Miscellaneous Process Industries

Our discussions of applications in the previous two chapters have centred on chemical processing, the principal application area of process intensification. However, other industrial sectors (and other aspects of our society – see Chapter 11 ) can benefit from PI, and several successful examples in industry, ranging from nuclear reprocessing to food and drink, exist. Here we explore these, and hope that the reader will employ his or her ‘technology transfer’ skills to adopt the experiences of PI users in other sectors to his own, if different.
