ISDN audiographic teleconferencing system based on personal computers

We have developed an Audiographics Teleconferencing System that uses personal computers connected by basic rate ISDN lines. It permits up to six terminals to exchange multimedia data, including voice, images, and handwritten inputs. A4-size documents read by an image scanner can be transmitted to all teleconferencing terminals at high speed. They are reduced to one-third and displayed on a CRT in half an A4-size at high speed and at high quality. While participants talk, they can make and erase handwritten notes on an LCD tablet. This paper describes an overview of this system, the design method, and the system configuration
