POLYMER AND BENTONITE SLURRY ON THE CENTRAL ARTERY/TUNNEL PROJECT: LESSONS LEARNED

The paper discusses some of the lessons learned during the design and construction of the huge Boston Central Artery/Tunnel Project. The concentration of the paper is issues involving the different types of polymer and bentonite slurries, such as: environmental issues; testing requirements; general design characteristics; and differences in the design requirements when using polymer and bentonite.
