Power electronic converter-based three-phase induction motor emulator

A three-phase induction motor emulator based on a bidirectional six-switch bridge-type power electronic converter is demonstrated. Two current control techniques in the abc-natural reference frame based on pulse-width modulation and hysteresis current control switching techniques are used and compared. The dynamic responses of the three-phase induction motor emulator during direct on-line start-up and loading transients show the effectiveness of using the emulator to resemble closely a real induction motor.
