Ichnologic note: Sabellariid polychaete squatters in Teredolites: Possible source of composite ichnotaxa in xylic substrates

Wood clasts washed ashore during storms at Bogue Banks, central coast of North Carolina, in the summer of 1995, contained borings assignable to Teredolites. Some of the borings enclosed bundles of sand‐lined tubes produced by sabellariid worms. The association of borings and sand‐lined tubes, if preserved, would produce composite trace fossils representing the recycling of the borings as living space by tubicolous squatters.
