scarring of the conjunctiva. Indeed, this technique has other applications including use in dry eye patients in whom goblet cells must be preserved and in anophthalmic socket patients. In addition, the suture is coved by the conjunctival flap during the postoperative period; theoretically minimizing the incidence of corneal abrasion and negating the need to place a bandage contact lens. We commend Dr. Lee and colleagues for calling attention to this important clinical finding and humbly submit that the conjunctiva-sparring approach may be a valuable adjunct in such potentially fragile patients.
