Application of Serial Model Extension Method in Bridge Pier Local Scouring Test of Maanshan Changjiang Road Bridge

The paper adopts serial model extension method to study the local scouring problem resulted by complex currents around bridge piers.It firstly and briefly explains the design principles of serial models,taking powdered coal as model sand and adopting three extreme floods conditions which are once in 300 years(p=0.33%),once in 100 years(p=1%)and once in 20 years(p=5%)to study the local scouring conditions of Maanshan Changjiang Road Bridge,then makes a comparison between serial model test results and physical model test results.
