FEA analysis on the in-plane shear capability of glass panel with overlap-connector

The in-plane shear capability of glass panel with overlap-connector that just prospers at home is analyzed by FEA method.The study focuses on the glass panel with two typical overlap-connectors,solid and hollow connector,under both contact support and eccentric support.The paper demonstrates that glass panel is likely to fail due to large local compression under eccentric support,makes parametric analysis on the maximum stress of glass panel,and compares the controlling factors of glass panel under both bending out of plane and shear in plane,providing reference for the formula in the design code.
