Speed estimation of an induction motor using Elman neural network

Abstract In this letter, a novel speed estimation method of an induction motor using Elman neural networks (ENN) is presented. The proposed ENN-based speed estimator, which replaces the speed sensor in vector control scheme, has proven to be successful under steady-state operation as well as transient operations under sudden load change and variable speed conditions.
