WIRELESS MULTIMEDIA COMMUNICATIONS

This paper focuses on wireless communication systems. It first describes a variety of personal navigation systems based on Personal Handy-Phone System (PHS) technology. This is followed by a discussion on the concept of "environment communication" which involves a driver receiving information such as location, time, or weather. Wireless agents, which combine the conventional mobile agent function with information specific to the mobile terminal's environment, are then described. The paper also briefly discusses mobile geographic information systems (GIS) and "radio on fiber" technology.
