Goods Movement in Central Ontario: Trends and Issues

The purpose of this report is to present information on a goods movement strategy that will support freight transportation in Central Ontario. An infrastructure that supports superior goods movement is necessary for competition and economic development. If the needs of goods movement are addressed, climate change, growth management and other quality of life issues will be improved for the communities in Central Ontario. Due to government funding constraints, it is important to explore operations and policy, and not just look to infrastructure solutions. Though truck transportation is the primary way that freight travels in Central Ontario, rail, marine, public transit, pipeline and air transportation are also explored in this study.
