Application of apply the technology of dynamic data to static storage in analysing the patients waiting for admission

Objective To understand the characters of patient waiting for admission(PWA) by using operational data store(ODS), so as to improve the management efficiency of department and to optimize the resources arrangement of hospital.Method The data of PWA from Nov.1st, 2007 to Jan.31st, 2008 was extracted from ODS of HIS Statistical Integration and Decision-making Management Support System(HSIDMSS).The average number of PAW and the mean of waiting days were calculated according to different groups, i.e.identity, location residence, department admission to and disease name.Result The average number of cases per day was 2 033.The peak of number of PAW was 2 587.The mean of waiting day of PAW was 30.0 days among 9 536 admission cases in that time stage.The cases were concern on 1 827 species of diseases.The number of cases with lung cancer was the most among all PAW at that stage,account for 4.6%.The number of PAW and the time of waiting to admission were differently among different groups of patient's identity, location residence, department to admission and the disease.Conclusion ODS could balance the conflict well between not affect the flow and response speed of HIS and store the dynamic data perennially in database, moreover, ODS could make it become possible that to analyze the dynamic data.Although ODS has not realize real timing analysis up to now, it could meet to needs of statistician providing the serve for hospital administrator.
