Structure and agency and the sticky problem of culture

Le concept de structure sociale est crucial dans l'analyse sociale, pourtant, l'usage de ce terme par les sociologues est souvent ambigu et trompeur. L'opposer a l'action ou bien a la culture reduit la structure a une pure contrainte et laisse supposer que la culture ne serait pas structuree ! Pour ajouter a la confusion, ces contrastes sont souvent associes a d'autres dichotomies telles que materiel contre ideel, externe contre interne, statique contre dynamique, objectif contre subjectif, pour aboutir a un prisme conceptuel ou les notions de structure sociale, d'action et de culture sont tous appauvris. L'A. examine les differentes acceptions de ces termes et eclaircit leurs liens conceptuels
