Hearing in adults : the prevalence and distribution of hearing impairment and reported hearing disability in the MRC Institute of Hearing Research's National Study of Hearing

The Medical Research Council's Institute of Hearing Research has conducted several large-scale epidemiological studies of hearing impairment in Great Britain. This volume presents data from these studies in a concise tabulated form that should be of value to professionals working in the field. The volume provides coverage of: the methodology of the studies; the prevalence of hearing impairments (mild to profound) and and estimate of the number of hearing-impaired people in each Health District of Great Britain as a function of a demographic group; detailed means and percentiles of hearing threshold distributions in the population and those who are reported not to have substantial noise exposure or ear pathology; and, an estimate of the range of hearing impairment measured as a function of what people said about their hearing (reported hearing disability).
