Long-Haul SDM Transmission Using Mode Division Multiplexing

We review recent achievements of SDM transmission experiments employing mode multiplexing technology. Mitigation techniques for linear transmission impairments are also presented that we have recently developed to achieve long-haul high-capacity SDM transmission using mode multiplexing.
