Loss Calculation Methods of Half-Bridge Square-Wave Inverters

This paper presents methods of loss calculation of IGBT modules, operating in two-level half-bridge inverters with square-waveoutput. The equations for calculating IGBT module losses for typical collector current waveforms using linearly interpolated datasheetcurves are presented. Since this method is generally limited in accuracy, a better approximation of datasheet curves is introduced. In thesecond part the switching waveforms of experimental two-level half-bridge inverter based on two 6.5 kV Infineon IGBT modules areanalysed.
