Study on Vibration Energy Dissipation Design of Structures with Fluid Viscous Dampers

In this paper, the conformation and energy dissipation principles of various fluid viscous dampers were firstly studied. Then a kind of high-performance damper, i.e. fluid viscous damper with double guide bars, was developed and manufactured. Based on the study and experiment, it can be concluded that this fluid viscous damper for vibration energy dissipation is a kind of velocity related damper without rigidity. The relationship between the damping force and the velocity is approximately linear. In addition, the principle of vibration energy dissipation design of structure with fluid viscous dampers was introduced. Finally, the structural vibration energy dissipation analysis of a frame structure with fluid viscous damper had been carried out. The results proved that the fluid viscous damper used for structural control can reduce the vibration response of the structure effectively. It is a high-performance structural vibration energy dissipation device.
