This master thesis in industrial design addresses the risks and hazards that we are exposed to in outdoor activities and remote environments.
Safety equipment for extreme outdoor activities do exist, but there is an unsaturated segment on the market for users wanting a more affordable
and overall safety solution. The project started out as an active safety system for remote environments, and has over time matured into a
safety wear project.
The proposed solution is a line of outdoor garments with an innovative passive-active body armor. The body armor is based on a silicone
treated three-dimensional spacer fabric that stiffens instantly upon impact. The garments are designed for a wide usability spectrum,
ergonomic
profile and high quality. They are designed to be as suitable in the city hustle as in the great outdoors, all to ensure that safety
should not have to be an active choice, it should be an active certainty. The garments are made of three-layered Gore-Tex Pro Shell and
utilizes
modern production techniques such as laser cutting and hot-welded seams.
