Novel stress grading systems for converter-fed motors

This paper describes an improved stress-grading system for converter-fed motors using conventional materials. For converter drives, the system was found to restore much of the stress-grading performance found with a single layer of tape on the surface of endwindings in 50/60 Hz machines. The paper also describes a simple laboratory pulse generator used to power samples when making voltage measurements along the surface
