Study of tribological behavior of Al2024 by power metallurgy method

This work review the aluminium alloy Al-2024 reinforced along with silicon carbide tribological performance fabricated by power metallurgy method. The frictional and wear property of the metal matrix composites was premeditated by testing dry sliding wear test using a pin-on-disc wear tester analysis to find the impact of functional load, speed on slide and distance of side on wear rate, as well as the porosity and resistance of the specimen were studied. Thus the results gives the hybrid composites with heavy load exhibited lower wear losses. Due to the even graphite film on the top surface of the worm surface decreases the wear, so rigorous wear loss is prevented. The usage of Gr and SiC as mixture reinforcements successfully improves the tribological properties of the specimen prepared by powder metallurgy technique. The wear of various specimens were found and then compared to obtain the best wear factor.
