A three-phase inverter with a neutral leg with space vector modulation

A three-phase inverter with a neutral leg is presented in this paper, in comparison with a conventional neutral point clamped three-phase inverter with split DC link capacitors, to deal with load unbalance in a high-power rotary standalone power supply system. With the additional neutral leg, the space vector modulation control is much more complex, and there is no precedent literature addressing this issue. In this paper a general definition of space vector in a three-dimensional space is described. Space vector modulation control of this inverter is discussed, as well as design considerations.
