From the Desk of the Editor-in-Chief

Professor Robert L. Friedheim, long-time member of the Ocean Development editorial board and professor in the Department of Political Science at the University of Southern California, passed away in February 2001. My most vivid memory of Bob is of we two tramping the few streets of Reykjavik dressed in our best winter wear, Bob looking for the perfect photo and me looking for an Icelandic sweater. A dedicated scholar and a vibrant speaker, he will be missed.
