Quantitative Evaluation of Electric Vehicle Accommodation Capacity in Multiple Scenarios

The electric vehicle (EV) charging load have different characteristics in different charging areas and under different charging strategies, therefore the accommodation capabilities of EVs will be different too. In this paper, a quantitative evaluation method of accommodation capacity of EVs in distribution networks under multiple scenarios is proposed. The EV users' charging behavior in different areas are analyzed firstly. Then, the Monte Carlo Method is used to calculate EV charging load. The maximum accommodation capacity of EVs in different ares is evaluated in term of load capacity of transformer and node voltage deviations. After that, a coordinated EV charging strategy is developed to improve the accommodation capacity. Finally, a local distribution network topology is used to verify the performance of the proposed method and strategy. The proposed quantitative evaluation method and coordinated EV charging strategy can provide a reference for the planning of charging facilities without expansion of transformer capacity.
