Impact of Layout of Pile Groups as Foundation for Offshore Wind Power Generators upon Hydrodynamic Conditions

To study the impact of the pile groups for wind power generators upon the hydrodynamic conditions of water level, flow velocity and tide flow in the sea area where the wind power generators are installed, a large two dimensional hydrodynamic numerical model was developed for the Changjiang Estuary, Hangzhou Bay and a large adjacent sea area. The results of the numerical model tests showed that the range and extent of impact of the installation of the wind power generators are much related to the characteristics of tidal currents and the layout of the power generators installed in the sea area. So far as Shanghai's plan for offshore wind power generation is concerned, the installation of offshore power generators will not produce much impact upon the surrounding sea area.
