Speckle Fluctuations as a Screening Test in the Holographic Measurement of Plant Motion and Growth

Experiments show that there is a correlation between the degree of speckle fluctuation observed when a botanical specimen is illuminated with laser light and the degree of difficulty experienced when the specimen is used as a subject for holographic interferometry. This correlation suggests the use of speckle fluctuations as a screening test in assessing the suitability of specimens for holographic measurement of growth or motion.
