Fibromuscular dysplasia. Its occurrence with a dissecting aneurysm of the internal carotid artery.

A rare case of fibromuscular dysplasia with a dissecting aneurysm of the cervical portion of the internal carotid artery was studied. Histopathologic observations and a review of the literature indicated that dissecting aneurysm as a complication of fibromuscular dysplasia should not be considered strange, although reports of similar cases are extremely rare.
