Remote Sensing Applications in Qinghai Yushu Earthquake Monitoring and Assessment

On April 14,2010,a magnitude 7.1 earthquake happened in Yushu county of Qinghai province.This earthquake is the strongest destructive earthquake and the most difficult disaster relief earthquake in the last two decades besides Wenchuan earthquake.After the earthquake happened,the National Disaster Reduction Center of China(NDRCC) and Satellite Application Center for Disaster Reduction actively promoted Working Procedure for Emergency Response with Space Technology Application according to the arrangement by Ministry of Civil Affaires and National Committee for disaster reduction.Under the 24-hour on duty mechanism,we finished building collapse and damage assessment,traffic line and landslides monitoring,affected people relief planning and disaster relief monitoring.These work and reports provide very important information for government decisions.
