Analysis on energy use by small- and medium-sized energy consumers: Energy diagnostic center at Yuan Ze University, Taiwan

In order to promote a sustainable energy policy in Taiwan, energy diagnostic centers (EDCs) located at 11 of top the universities were established in 2016 by bureau of energy, ministry of economic affairs, Taiwan. In EDCs, the theory and practice in energy conservation are combined successfully. In terms of lighting, power and space conditioning (heating/cooling, ventilation and air-conditioning), the EDCs have provided small- and medium-sized energy consumers (contracted power capacity below 800kW) with specific recommendations for improving energy efficiency, reducing waste, and increasing productivity via changes in processes and equipment. In this paper, the operating scheme of EDCs at Yuan Ze University (YZU) is introduced. The results of this paper are of value to promote the sustainable policy in Taiwan.
