Optimal control of multivariable systems with pure time delays

A brief review of the development of the theory and computational approaches for the optimal control of multivariable systems having pure time delays is given. Following this is a detailed discussion of the optimal feedback control of both linear and non-linear systems having pure time delays. A neighboring optimal feedback control scheme is developed for non-linear problems, and a chemical reactor control problem is worked to illustrate the performance of the controller.
