Analysis of Fault Characteristics of Hybrid Multiterminal HVDC Transmission System

Hybrid multi-terminal high-voltage direct current (HVDC) systems have become the most competitive and promising candidate for HVDC system. With the development, a new topology is proposed, whose receiving terminal involves line-commutated converters (LCCs) and modular multi-level converters (MMCs). The analysis of fault characteristics is lacking in this new hybrid multi-terminal HVDC system with complex topology and control strategies. In this paper, a typical topology simulation model of hybrid multi-terminal HVDC transmission system is built in PSCAD/EMTDC. The fault characteristics of hybrid multi-terminal HVDC system are analyzed, which is the basis for the subsequent protection theory research and practical application of engineering.
