Using wavelets to characterize time-frequency features of electromagnetic coupling problems

The continuous wavelet transform (CWT) analysis is applied to electromagnetic interference data for complex topologies which have been generated by the finite difference time domain (FDTD) method. Topologies such as partially open enclosures containing conducting objects and a circuit board with different sized traces are considered. The interference source is a Gaussian pulse plane wave, covering a wide frequency band. In order to visualize the temporal variation of the frequency content of the signals coupled to the circuit board, the time-frequency characteristics of the calculated waveforms are investigated using the CWT analysis which is performed using the complex Gaussian wavelet.
