Dual-feed MIMO antennas with one shared radiator for future 5G MIMO systems

In this paper, a pair of dual-feed MIMO antennas with one shared radiator is proposed with high isolation performance for two-by-two MIMO systems. There are totally three shorting pins and two feeding ports on the radiator, by properly designing the location of and the distance between feeding and shorting pins, the port isolation of better than −25dB is obtained in the operating band of 3.4–3.7GHz while maintaining good impedance matching at the very same band. The measured total efficiency and ECC (envelope correlation coefficient) indicates the proposed dual-feed antenna has good performances as a MIMO system, which verifies it can be a good choice for future 5G MIMO systems.
