Development and testing of control strategies of DC motor for stand-alone wind energy conversion system

This paper contributes to the control strategies required for DC motor based emulator to run with 3φ Self-excited induction generator for the design of wind energy conversion systems. It offers a controllable test environment that allows the evaluation and improvement of control schemes for wind generators that is hard to achieve with an actual wind turbine. For wind emulator, various types of prime movers have been used. In this paper, DC motor based wind emulator is modeled and simulated in the LabVIEW environment. Verification of the same is done by MATLAB simulation and experimental setup using DC motor-Induction generator set. LABVIEW and data acquisition card are used to acquire data from the set.
