Educational simulator to draw conic sections in mathematics supported by intelligent agents and semantic web based on the constructivism and problem-based learning approach

This paper highlights the main aspects of an educational simulator designed and developed to support teaching and learning processes in the topic of drawing conic sections such as the hyperbola, circle, parabola and ellipse in rectangular coordinates in differential calculus subject. The simulator implements intelligent agents and semantic web in order to improve the application performance and the feedback to students in web learning environments, this educational simulator was completely developed with open source software, and was designed based on the constructivism pedagogical model and the problem-based learning approaches. As a result there is proposed an example of how to design an educational simulator for mathematics with efficient technologies such as intelligent agents and semantic web besides modern pedagogical and didactical approaches.
