A98-37109 Fuzzy Missile Guidance Laves

In this paper a fuzzy logic based guidance law is developed for an active radar homing missile. The guidance law is designed specifically for use against a highly manoeuvrable manned aircraft. The fuzzy logic guidance law produced, combines knowledge obtained from analytical guidance laws with heuristics. The resulting guidance law is shown to have lower latax requirements than both an Augmented Proportional Navigation law (APN) and a Differential Game Theory (DOT) based guidance law. Simulations using Kalman estimates are presented which also show the law is robust.
