Performance improvement in XGM wavelength conversion based on a single‐port‐coupled SOA

The performance of XGM wavelength conversion based on a single-port-coupled SOA has been theoretically and experimentally studied. Results show that a larger output extinction ratio and a smaller power penalty can be achieved in this novel scheme, compared with those conventional schemes based on an identical and double-long, double-port-coupled SOA. © 2000 John Wiley & Sons, Inc.
