Phase compensation in all-pole speech analysis

General methods are discussed for estimating a phase model in the context of all-pole analysis of speech. An optimal estimator is presented for the case in which the phase model is a strict all-pass filter. It is shown that the solution to this estimation problem is very close to that obtained by established methods of linear prediction. As a complement, discrete Fourier transform methods for the phase modeling are briefly discussed and evaluated. Experience with the algorithms is presented, including results for applications to glottal-inverse filtering and speech coding.<<ETX>>
