Erbium-doped fibre amplifiers with an extremely high gain coefficient of 11.0 dB/mW

A gain coefficient of 11.0 dB/mW is obtained using 0.98 μm laser diode pumped erbium-doped fibre amplifiers with a low erbium concentration of 81 ppm and a high relative refractive index difference of 1.88%.
